5 Dyneema Ultralight Backpacks & Other Gear From Etsy

For many of us hiking backpacks are expensive and a big purchase, regardless of the company being REI or some small cottage company.

My goals in 2021 were to start supporting small businesses including people who open their shops on Etsy and US based cottage companies like Enlightened Equipment.

Etsy has some nice options for someone looking to move into Dyneema backpacks that may make you change your mind and I wanted to show off a few of the most awesome versions I am looking at for my next backpack!

Dyneema Ultralight Backpacks

One reason many people want to get Dyneema backpacks is the fabric is very waterproof on its own, needing only seam sealing to become near waterproof from rain and external water entry.

The thing that stops many people is the cost but there are some good deals available online from Etsy and businesses who provide their own goods created with Dyneema, though many may require seam sealing.

The nice thing about Etsy though is the ability to converse with the store owner and ask what it would cost for them to add things like seam sealing or in many cases actually build you a fully custom backpack or other item!

TRAILPACK27 – Dyneema Frameless Backpack

One of the largest storefronts on Etsy for Dyneema backpacks is PBD, or PackbackDesigns. They are fast to respond to questions and can help you get the backpack you need if not one of their standards they offer custom options.

Features of the TRAILPACK27

• Unloaded this base pack weighs only approximately 13.19 ounces.
• Made with “super ” strong 2.92oz Dyneema Composite Fabric
• The Trailpack is comfortable up to 17-20 pounds (total pack weight).
• Roll top main body measures with collar 23″ tall by 8″ wide. Bottom to shoulder strap break-line is 19″

Ultralight Backpacking Fanny Pack

Growing in popularity on the hiker scene is the fanny pack, the relic of the 1980’s has found new footing in providing someone who is on the trail some additional space that is easily accessible.

The DCF version though comes with better ability to keep the contents dry and this can be helpful when on trails in large downpours.

• All seams are lined with grosgrain to reinforce waterproof quality. Zippers are YKK waterproof #3 for the front pocket and #5 for main pocket.

Food Bag w/ Middle Divider+Bonus Rock Sack

There is no more awesome a set of fabrics in the hiking world then Dyneema currently due to the nature of the fabric, including durability and water resistance.
