Special Features (Pros) of the Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL Backpacking Tent

Features patent-pending mtnGLO® Tent Light Technology – Using durable LED lights to illuminate the interior of your tent with enough light to sort gear, play cards and hang out with friends without blinding them with a headlamp.

Dry entry door – Designed to keep the interior of your tent dry as you enter and exit. Make sure not to track in water or moisture from outside to allow for better overall warmth and comfort.

Multi-Vestibule – Features two doors and two vestibules with storm flaps on the vestibule zippers. The vestibule also has low vents as a feature on the vestibule doors to allow for better air flow while still providing vestibule coverage to your gear or whatever you choose to leave in it.

Dual Zipper Doors – Very smooth closing and the discrete seam design creates a clean, modern aesthetic appeal. Dual zipper doors allow for much easier in and out access and entry.

Additionally you can use just one zipper to allow you access to reach in and grab something without fully opening and accessing the tent. The doors also have a quick stash door keeper located on the tent body door that makes stowing an unzipped door quick and easy.

Over-sized Ceiling Pocket – Provides great storage space or an area for a good overhead light while in the tent. For those who like to have some light in their tent while prepping for bed or on waking will love the ability to stash a light to project down giving you another hand free.

Media Pockets – Located above sleeping area enable clean ear bud cord routing from phones or other devices. This allows for night time listening without worry of rolling and breaking a cord or phone as they are stored above you!

Drawbacks (Cons) for the Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL 2 MTNGLO Tent

Questionable Zippers – While reading reviews for thru-hikers I read a decent amount that experience issues with zipper functionality after some time on the trail.

Foot End No Tensioners – Issues with taller hikers (around 6’1″) with a inflatable pad having their toes touching the mesh allowing moisture to enter.

More Suited For 1 Person With Trail Backpack – Due to having a large backpack for thru-hiking most people relayed that this while listed as a 2 person tent is really a 1 person for when planning a thru-hike.

Independent Reviews and Recommendations for the Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL 2 MTNGLO Tent

The Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL2 earns one of our Top Pick Awards for its outstanding balance between weight and comfort. As a semi-freestanding tent, it shaves ounces by reducing the total number of pole segments required for setup. It’s easy to pitch and packs down small. Our favorite part about this lightweight wonder is that it offers a uniform amount of headroom from wall to wall so two people can sit up in it, a rarity in the ultralight tent world.

I found the Tiger Wall UL to be an ideal “couples trip” tent — it’s the first shelter that Amanda has genuinely liked. She thought it was comfortable and secure, appreciated having her own door and interior pockets, and was able to pitch it without knowing any knots or reading the instructions. Meanwhile, it was acceptably lightweight for me.

What Online Customers Have to Say About the Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL Backpacking Tent

Amazing Lightweight Tent!
By Cameron

We’ve taken this tent on a Glacier Traverse in Alaska with plenty of ice and rain and it kept us dry which was amazing for how light it is. My husband and I are 5′ 8” and 5′ 10” and don’t have any issues sharing the tent and keeping our packs in the vestibules. I think most of the negative reviews are related to the fact that. a tent this light can’t be super durable material and you have to take care of it.

This tent is a real winner
By graymountaineer

I have used Big Agnes tents to hike the Wonderland Trail, the entire Appalachian Trail and am now closing in on completing the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin, in addition to numerous short backpacking trips in various areas. The Tiger Wall UL2 is a great tent. Last year in Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine on the Ice Age Trail, I was in the tent when a 4 hour lightening storm hit. I was told later that it dropped 7 inches of rain in those 4 hours. The rain at times was torrential and the wind gusts were significant. My tent stayed bone dry and I was safe in it.

Final Thoughts on the Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL 2 MTNGLO Tent

This tent is an amazing value for the cost allowing for you too carry a large personal space on the trail for a very low weight. It has enough space to fit you and your bag allowing you to have access to anything you may need at any point while camping.

With a large amount of head space, a whopping 52″ you have plenty of ability to readjust how you sit inside the tent. Also with the foot box being 42″ this allows you plenty of space for foot movement without necessarily hitting the tent or mesh.

I would suggest a Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL Backpacking tent for anyone looking for a tent which is able to survive a thru-hike on the PCT, CDT or AT while not being as expensive as a Cuben Fiber tent.
