About Nomad Hiker

My name is Josh Koop is I am the owner and writer of Nomad Hiker, a site that explores the world through hiking. I have hardcore ADHD so I’m always on my feet, whether it be exploring new places or drawing in sketchbooks. I have one daughter and an amazing wife who are both patient as a monk with me, supporting my crazy choices.

I chose to build Nomad Hiker as I love to go hike and be outdoors but finding people to go and places to visit can require a large amount of travel.

Nomad Hiker is all about learning how to hike, backpack, and thru-hike depending on what fits you. Most longer hikes are a personal journey where many face deep personal introspection.

Not only do I write in-depth backpacking gear reviews we can also help you find the best gear for your travel needs. Whether you’re into a day or week hikes, section, or full-on thru-hiking, our guides will have you covered.

Of course, all good things come to an end. So when your adventure is over, we’ve got guides on keeping your gear clean and how to store it if you don’t have much space.
